Hotels and Motels

This is likely the type of accommodation that everyone is largely familiar with. You’ve all stayed in a hotel before, so you know what to expect. It’s going to be a fifteen floor structure with a hundred rooms and a complimentary continental breakfast for those who feel like waking up at seven o’clock in the morning while on vacation. And yes, that pretty much defines the hotel experience for any other location that you might name.

And yet again, things on Anna Maria Island tend towards being a little different.

Remember, this area doesn’t do chains. That means that you can’t find your familiar little Starbucks or Pizza Hut here. It also means that you aren’t going to find a Holiday Inn or a Ramada. Every single hotel, motel and inn on the island is unique to this place. You also won’t find massive structures filled to the brim with hundreds of sea-going tourists. The largest hotel on the island is the Blue Water Beach Club, and the number of rooms in the entire building rings in at…twenty nine.

And as with every other kind of accommodation available on Anna Maria Island, we like to push the boundaries of what a hotel or motel actually is. Take the Pirate’s Den, for instance. There is a main structure to the hotel, but it actually consists of four separate condo units that can be rented out, each with a full kitchen available. Or you can choose one of the cottages available with their own private patio. Certainly not your typical idea of a hotel.

The Pelican Post in Bradenton offers a more traditional take on what a hotel should offer, with a variety of room choices available for visitors. But then they toss a bit of spice in to the formula by mixing in mini apartment suites and putting fully equipped kitchenettes in to all of the smaller rooms. When even the available accommodations are this different, you know that you’re looking at a very unique location to visit. And if we’re talking unique, attention must be paid to Haley’s Motel. While most hoteliers choose one form of accommodation to offer guests, the owners of Haley’s were clearly feeling a bit more ambitious and chose ‘all’. There are motel rooms, each one unique from one another. There are fully appointed studio apartments. There are cottages. And finally, there are two different houses that can be rented. It’s the sort of place that you aren’t going to find anywhere else.

Maybe you’d like to do a little fishing while you’re down here. In that case, the Rod & Reel Resort might be what you’re looking for. This is a small hotel right down on the beach. White sand flows for miles to either side, and you can fish almost literally right outside the door of your one-bedroom suite. We’ve included a kitchenette and enough pots and pans that you can cook up your catch and enjoy it that night.

Of course, that’s hardly the only offering down on the beach. Most of the area’s hotels and inns are located right at the beach front or within a short walk. We know that people come here to enjoy the surf and the sun, and we want to put you as close to that as possible.

Rates are fairly consistent with what you would expect to pay for a similarly sized room elsewhere, with beachfront rooms and the like obviously costing a bit more. Yet again, Anna Maria Island has something special to offer up every visitor looking for a hotel or motel stay.
